Her love for choreography also started young when Ashton entered in the Choreographer's Initiative (a regional youth choreography festival) at 14 years old. Since placing top three in this competition thrice, earning the grand prize in both 2018 and 2019 for her pieces "Makeba" and "Time's Up" respectively, Ashton has returned to CI to adjudicate and mentor the next generation of student choreographers.

At Chapman, Ashton created six original, live works staged throughout her time. She has also developed her eye for dance film, creating multiple dance films through her creative partnership with Ash Cohan, Ash & Ash Productions.
